The B471 precision light screen can be used in the calibre range from 4 to 40 mm. It is basically designed for use in indoor shooting ranges, but can also be used outdoors or in covered facilities in dry conditions.

Determining projectile velocity (v) by measuring the time (t) required to travel a known distance between two sensors has been a tried and tested method for some time. Chronographs with a resolution of 0.05 µs now represent the state of the art.

The accuracy with which the projectile velocity can be recorded therefore depends primarily on the sensor. An exact trigger level is essential, irrespective of the projectile type, shape or velocity.

Any external influences, such as shock waves, which may affect the triggering point and therefore cause measuring errors must also be eliminated. The greatest possible accuracy and reliability were therefore top priority in the development of this light screen.
